The Rolex company started in 1908. Almost immediately it became famous. In 1910, after Rolex was introduced to the world every manufacturer wanted to get Rolex certificate because that means not only prestige, but recognition of exclusive quality. Rolex revolutionized the world of timepieces. By 1914, Rolex Company moved from Great Britain to Switzerland. Within short period of time Rolex purchased additional factory in Geneva. Today all Rolex watches are manufactured in Bill & Geneva only. Oyster model (the first waterproof watch in the world) was made twelve years later. Special structure of the frame made Rolex Oyster totally waterproof. There is about 10 million Rolex watches was produced and it becomes very difficult to recognize fake unauthentic models. This is why Rolex Company fight with fakes for many years.Rolex watches by right are reputed as the most prestigious watches. It is a symbol of success and only several watch manufacturers deserve this reputation.

QUICK TIPS ON HOW TO SPOT A FAKE ROLEX: MICRO-ETCHED CRYSTAL:  As of 2002, Rolex has started micro-etching a tiny "coronet" (crown) logo into the crystal, at the 6 o'clock position. This mark is quite small, so it is difficult to see with the naked eye. However, when viewed under a loupe, the faint outline can be distinguished, as seen in the examples above.

DATE CRYSTAL BUBBLE: All current date models will have a glass bubble or "Cyclops" positioned over the date. Its purpose is to magnify the tiny aperture and does so at 2.5 times magnification (most counterfeit models the date magnification is only 1.5 times) Thus the date window should practically "fill up" the Cyclops.

HAND SIZES: Counterfeiters will often use hands which are of the wrong size and/or shape. In authentic Rolex watches the "minute" hand which reaches all the way to the outer "hash" marks whereas the counterfeit model shown features much shorter hands.

SOUND & STYLE: All Rolex automatic watches have a "sweeping" second hand and will tick very softly unlike like the counterfeit models that tick louder and the "second' hand jumps to the next point. WEIGHT: As all authentic Rolex watch cases are made to high grade stainless steel or rolled gold it reflects on the overall weight of the watch case. MODEL NUMBERING: All Rolex watched models include the style number between the lugs below the six point.
