Tim Page is one of the world’s best-known war photographers.
Page became a war photographer almost by accident when, while traveling
in south-east Asia, he
witnessed civil war in Laos. Using a borrowed Nikon camera, Page photographed the
coup d’état in Vientiane in January 1964 Page photographs were among the few taken
of the coup.
Later, Page was commissioned by United Press International to
photograph the war in Vietnam, becoming one of the first to do so

In 1965, Page began taking photographs of border conflicts in Cambodia and
Vietnam. Eventually, he became one of the more notorious combat photographers
and renowned for the images he captured.

Ernst Haas on the set of
the movie the Misfits 1960

Haas was one of the
first recruits to Robert Capa’s Magnum agency and a
pioneer of colour photography, introducing hues and tones
never before seen in printed colour. In his images of
American street scenes, in cities from New York to Las
Vegas, he captures the play of light on wet streets, glass
shop fronts and tall, mirrored buildings to almost
impressionistic effect: as in this 1969 picture of Route
66, Albuquerque
