 Brassai which translates as "from Brass" captured the essence of the city that he loved He published his first book of photographs in 1933 titled Paris after Dark Brassai photographed his friends, including Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti plus prominent writers Jean Genet, Henri Michaux

 Brassai was known as "the eye of Paris"
